| A wonderfully thought-provoking show. Gomo George's work
makes a powerful statement. Lucie Chan's installation speaks through its
complexity. ...JPC |

| The Internet does not do justice to your exhibits. Yes,
it allows them to be seen, but I'm sure their quality and impact are lost
on my 14" screen. They are very impressive. As a serious amateur
photographer, I appreciate their messages.
The woman who was interviewed on CBC yesterday said one of your purposes was to neutralize racism, which I completely agree with. So, why is it when I pick up my Sunday Toronto Star is there a big article about a Supt. Hope being the highest ranking black officer in the Ontario Prov. Police? Why couldn't they just say he is very skilled, experienced, knowledgeable and probably will do a great job. I can see from his photo he is black, and so what. Why do these articles have to happen just because he is black? If the guy was white, I doubt there would even be an article. My point is not to belittle Supt. Hope's accomplishments. Undoubtedly he deserves his promotion based upon his merits. The OPP do need more personnel of various ethnicities and Hope's appointment is a step in the right direction. The fact he is non-white is good for the OPP. Do you think the media would have done the article if Hope was Italian, Portuguese, Asian, etc.? If they did, would they have referred to him as a man of Mediterranean colour, yellow or brown or if he was from Mars (as most men are) green? I think that if you (we) want to level the field, that the media are a number one target to stop the unnecessary referral to one's colour, whatever it is, and simply refer to people as people. I can't recall one article I've ever read saying the person is a white person. If a photo or one's name indicates racial origin, that's fine. I guess I'm suggesting that a group such as yours who are tuned in daily to these issues and are monitoring the media might consider getting on the media's back for referrals to colour of people generally and black people in particular. On the nasty side of it, the Toronto media never seem to miss a step about constantly referring to some kid, who gets beat up (or is the beater upper) or worse killed, as being black, if he or she is. Yet they rarely refer to the white ones as being white, the assumption is everybody is white (or European ancestry) unless otherwise identified. I don't believe in racism. Folks are folks. I admire diversity, different cultures, but rip the skin off and we're all the same. Anyway, that's my little rant about all this. Thanks for your ear. Jim Perrin |

| This is a delightful show. As an artist of colour, I have
also used the body as a point of cultural investigation. This exhibit
is spiritually, morally and politically uplifting and challenging. Well
Done!

| Great to see the community has put together a site to display
the art of our Black Canadian community. This is a great thing and I would love to see other minority groups do the same. The various cultures and backgrounds of Canadians should be embrassed as we each have something unique to teach each other in life. All the best! Charlie Khoury |

| I live in Toronto but most of my family originated in Nova
Scotia and I was interested in some of the things to see regarding our
background and heritage because I plan on making a trip down there next
summer.

| I was up unusually early this Saturday morning scanning
through Rogers Channels and came acoss images I was unable to take my mind off of...unfortunately there was not contact information on this programme. I have spent the past hour searching the internet and have finally arrived here. I would like to know where I can view your work and how I might be able to purchase some eventually. Are there any books of your work available? All I can say is WOW...your work is incredible...I long to see more
